Tesla to Wind Down Cybertruck Production Due to Lagging Sales
Al Jazeera · world
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced plans to wind down Cybertruck production at its Texas Gigafactory around mid-2025. This decision comes as the polarizing electric truck has significantly underperformed sales expectations. Musk stated the move will allow for increased production of the new Cybercab model, part of Tesla's entry into the robo-taxi industry. Initially predicted to sell 250,000 units annually, the Cybertruck sold only 38,965 units in 2024 and 20,237 in 2025. Musk called the Cybertruck the 'best vehicle Tesla has ever made' in a post on X.
