Google Successfully Runs First AI Prompt in Space

Google has achieved a significant milestone by running its first AI prompt in space using its Project Suncatcher prototype satellite. The satellite received a command, powered on a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), and generated a poem from orbit. CEO Sundar Pichai described it as a "hello world" moment for AI in space. The satellite, built with Planet and launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9, is now undergoing tests for power, radiation, and heat resistance. Google plans two more satellites in 2027 with enhanced capabilities.
