The Bombay High Court has discharged actor-turned-producer Rahul Raj Singh, who was accused in the decade-old abetment of suicide case of TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee. His lawyers argued that the FIR was lodged hastily without a suicide note and that evidence suggested he cared for Banerjee. The court considered arguments that Singh attempted to convince Banerjee against drastic steps and expressed love, indicating no case for abetment. Legal experts had previously questioned the swift registration of the criminal case by Mumbai Police in 2016.

बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट ने एक्टर से प्रोड्यूसर बने राहुल राज सिंह को टीवी एक्टर प्रत्युषा बनर्जी के आत्महत्या के मामले में बरी कर दिया है। यह मामला एक दशक पुराना है। उनके वकीलों ने दलील दी कि FIR बिना सुसाइड नोट के जल्दबाजी में दर्ज की गई थी और सबूत बताते हैं कि वह बनर्जी की परवाह करते थे। कोर्ट ने इस दलील पर गौर किया कि सिंह ने बनर्जी को कोई भी बड़ा कदम उठाने से रोकने की कोशिश की थी और प्यार का इजहार किया था, जिससे आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने का कोई मामला नहीं बनता। कानूनी जानकारों ने पहले 2016 में मुंबई पुलिस द्वारा आपराधिक मामला दर्ज करने की जल्दबाजी पर सवाल उठाए थे।
