Lando Norris expressed frustration with the driving standards in Formula 1 after Franco Colapinto caused a multi-car crash at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The incident, which occurred at the first corner after a safety car restart, saw Colapinto lock up and collide with teammate Pierre Gasly, subsequently hitting Norris's McLaren and sending him into the barriers. Colapinto accepted responsibility for the "big mistake" and received a 10-second penalty. Norris stated that "some drivers shouldn't be in Formula 1," highlighting the impact on his championship defence.
