UN Launches Initiative To Tackle Risks Of Military AI

The United Nations is launching a new initiative through its Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) to address the growing risks of artificial intelligence in military operations. This initiative aims to create an international forum for stakeholders to discuss AI's military applications and associated threats, as the scope for human judgment, even in nuclear contexts, is narrowing. UNIDIR head Robin Geiss highlighted that uncertainty surrounding AI control is a major concern.
