Shubman Gill's Statement Sparks Debate Over KL Rahul's Batting Position

TV9 Hindi · sports

Ahead of the ODI series against New Zealand, Indian captain Shubman Gill indicated flexibility in batting positions 5 and 6. Gill stated that the top four batsmen are set, and the middle order will be adjusted based on match situations, potentially including Axar Patel for a left-handed option. This statement suggests that KL Rahul's established position at number 5 is no longer guaranteed. Rahul has a strong record at number 5, averaging 68.58 in 36 ODIs, but the team's flexible approach might impact his consistent role.
