Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled his first-ever no-ball in T20 International cricket after 299.3 deliveries against New Zealand. This ended his chance to break the world record for most overs bowled without a no-ball, held by Adil Rashid at 320.2 overs. The costly no-ball on the first ball of his second over led to a boundary on the subsequent free hit, resulting in 17 runs conceded in that over. Despite this, Kumar also set a new record for the most dot balls bowled in the T20I powerplay with 680.
