Nick Faldo Laments Golf's Shift To Raw Power Over Strategy

Hindustan Times · sports

Golf legend Nick Faldo expressed concern that the sport no longer requires strategy due to the rise of raw power. He noted that increased driving distances, with pros hitting over 350 yards, diminish the need for tactical play. Faldo suggested rule changes like restricting tee height to one inch and limiting driver loft to encourage a return to classical ball-striking skills. He recalled his 1996 Masters victory, emphasizing the importance of a game plan and consistency in his win over Greg Norman.
