Institutes Spent ₹134 Crore On Proprietary Software

An open source collective, FOSS United, has revealed that India's premier educational institutes have spent over ₹134 crore on proprietary software. The collective claims this substantial expenditure represents only a fraction of the total public university spending. They argue that these costs could be significantly reduced by adopting open source alternatives, which offer similar functionalities and could lead to considerable savings for public institutions.

एफओएसएस यूनाइटेड (FOSS United) नाम के एक समूह ने बताया है कि भारत के बड़े-बड़े एजुकेशनल संस्थानों ने प्रोप्राइटरी सॉफ्टवेयर पर ₹134 करोड़ से ज़्यादा खर्च कर दिए हैं। उनका कहना है कि यह तो कुल खर्च का एक छोटा सा हिस्सा है। अगर वे ओपन सोर्स सॉफ्टवेयर इस्तेमाल करते, तो इससे काफी पैसे बच सकते थे, क्योंकि ये भी वैसे ही काम करते हैं।
