Supreme Court Stays Cow Slaughter Ban Order

The Tamil Nadu government has secured a stay from the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court order that had banned cow slaughter. The state argued that the high court's direction contradicted existing legislation which permits the slaughter of specific categories of cows in designated areas.

तमिलनाडु सरकार को सुप्रीम कोर्ट से बड़ी राहत मिली है। मद्रास हाई कोर्ट ने गायों के वध पर रोक लगा दी थी, लेकिन अब सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने उस फैसले पर रोक लगा दी है। राज्य सरकार का कहना है कि हाई कोर्ट का आदेश मौजूदा कानूनों के खिलाफ है, जो कुछ खास जगहों पर कुछ खास तरह की गायों के वध की इजाजत देते हैं।
