Kozhikode city police have intensified their crackdown on illegal spas and massage centres, inspecting around 70 establishments and shutting down 20 for lacking adequate documents. Six others received closure notices. This drive follows concerns over unlawful activities, including the recent alleged sexual torture of a woman in Kochi and reports of Bangladeshi women working with forged documents. The police registered cases and arrested four individuals during inspections on October 17. Operators must now maintain employee registers for police verification, with stringent action promised against violators.
