Delhi's New Master Plan Boosts Floor Area Ratio

Delhi's new Master Plan is focusing on redevelopment of old buildings with a renewed Floor Area Ratio (FAR). FAR determines the total constructed floor area relative to the plot size, controlling building density and height. The recent building collapse in Satya Niketan, which killed seven people, has brought this plan into focus. Increasing FAR could provide owners of aging buildings a financial incentive to rebuild, potentially offsetting demolition costs and allowing for more built-up space.
