Ahmedabad Man Wins Rs 4,000 Compensation After 7-Year GST Dispute

A consumer in Ahmedabad has won a seven-year legal battle against retailer Brand Factory over an extra Rs 15 charged as GST on a pair of shorts. The shorts, bought in 2019 for Rs 299 after a discount, had an MRP tag stating all taxes were included. However, the invoice showed an additional Rs 15 for GST. The consumer commission ruled in favour of the buyer, ordering the retailer to refund the Rs 15 with 7% annual interest and pay Rs 4,000 in compensation for the unfair trade practice.

अहमदाबाद के एक ग्राहक ने रिटेलर Brand Factory के खिलाफ 7 साल की कानूनी लड़ाई जीती है। यह लड़ाई शॉर्ट्स की एक जोड़ी पर अतिरिक्त 15 रुपये GST वसूलने को लेकर थी। 2019 में 299 रुपये में डिस्काउंट के बाद खरीदी गई शॉर्ट्स पर MRP टैग में लिखा था कि सभी टैक्स शामिल हैं। लेकिन, इनवॉइस में GST के लिए अतिरिक्त 15 रुपये दिखाए गए थे। कंज्यूमर कमीशन ने खरीदार के पक्ष में फैसला सुनाया। कमीशन ने रिटेलर को 15 रुपये की रकम 7% सालाना ब्याज के साथ वापस करने और अनुचित व्यापार प्रथा के लिए 4,000 रुपये का मुआवजा देने का आदेश दिया।
