LDF, UDF Share Wins in Palakkad Bypolls

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) have split the gains in byelections held across seven local body wards in Palakkad district. Both fronts managed to wrest one seat from the other while successfully retaining their existing seats. In the Paruthikkavu ward, the LDF candidate secured victory through a draw after both LDF and UDF candidates received an equal number of votes. These byelections were necessitated by vacancies arising from resignations and deaths of sitting members.
