The Supreme Court has declared that children possess a fundamental right to internet access, akin to adults. A bench of justices JB Pardiwala and KV Chandran stated that blanket bans on children's internet use, even for safety, risk violating their freedom and privacy. The court emphasized that protecting children should not involve isolating them from a medium crucial for education, information, and social participation. This ruling acknowledges the internet's integral role in modern life for learning and connection, especially for those in remote areas or with special needs.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि बच्चों को वयस्कों की तरह ही इंटरनेट एक्सेस का मौलिक अधिकार है। जस्टिस जेबी पारदीवाला और केवी चंद्रन की बेंच ने कहा कि बच्चों के इंटरनेट इस्तेमाल पर पूर्ण प्रतिबंध, सुरक्षा के लिए भी, उनकी स्वतंत्रता और निजता का उल्लंघन कर सकता है। कोर्ट ने जोर देकर कहा कि बच्चों की सुरक्षा का मतलब उन्हें शिक्षा, सूचना और सामाजिक भागीदारी के लिए महत्वपूर्ण माध्यम से अलग करना नहीं होना चाहिए। इस फैसले में आधुनिक जीवन में सीखने और जुड़ने के लिए इंटरनेट की अहम भूमिका को स्वीकार किया गया है, खासकर दूरदराज के इलाकों में रहने वालों या विशेष जरूरतों वाले बच्चों के लिए।
