Nepal Flash Flood Likely Caused By Landslide Dam Breach

A flash flood in Nepal's Budhi Gandaki river system early Sunday may have been triggered by a landslide and the subsequent breach of a temporary river blockage. The flood, which hit around 4 am local time, swept away houses and bridges in Gorkha district and damaged hydropower infrastructure. At least 10 people are missing, and nearly 50 have been rescued, with ongoing search and rescue operations.

रविवार तड़के नेपाल की बूढ़ी गंडकी नदी प्रणाली में अचानक आई बाढ़ का कारण शायद भूस्खलन और उसके बाद नदी में बने अस्थायी अवरोध का टूटना हो सकता है। स्थानीय समयानुसार सुबह करीब 4 बजे आई इस बाढ़ ने गोरखा जिले में घरों और पुलों को बहा दिया और जलविद्युत ढांचे को नुकसान पहुंचाया। कम से कम 10 लोग लापता हैं, और लगभग 50 लोगों को बचाया गया है, जबकि बचाव अभियान जारी हैं।
