Usman Badaru arrived in Rhode Island from Nigeria at age 13, soon facing homelessness with his family and relying on temporary shelters. Decades later, he now works as a neuro ICU nurse at Rhode Island Hospital, caring for critically ill patients. Badaru's journey was significantly shaped by attending RINI, a high school focused on introducing students to healthcare careers. He now mentors young people, guiding them towards similar paths in the healthcare profession that transformed his own life.
