Students at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi have been protesting and on a hunger strike. They are demanding the restoration of student union elections, a schedule for the 2026-27 polls, and improvements to hostel facilities, scholarships, and stipends. The students also called for the resignation of the Chief Proctor and the reinstatement of three suspended students. While the university administration has appealed for an end to the protest and promised to consider their demands, they have also issued a final notice to vacate the protest site.
