CJI: Judiciary Needs Scrutiny, Not Shielding

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stated that institutions, including the judiciary, do not remain clean by being shielded from scrutiny. Addressing the Ram Jethmalani Memorial Lecture, he referenced the NCERT textbook row, where the Supreme Court initially objected to references to 'judicial corruption'. Justice Kant emphasized that fair criticism is vital for a vibrant democracy and that courts must be willing to be examined and questioned to earn public trust.

सीजेआई: न्यायपालिका को जांच की जरूरत, ढाल की नहीं

भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत ने कहा कि न्यायपालिका सहित कोई भी संस्था जांच से बचकर पाक-साफ नहीं रह सकती। उन्होंने राम जेठमलानी मेमोरियल लेक्चर में कहा कि NCERT की किताब वाले मामले में सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने शुरू में 'न्यायिक भ्रष्टाचार' के उल्लेख पर आपत्ति जताई थी। जस्टिस कांत ने जोर दिया कि एक जीवंत लोकतंत्र के लिए निष्पक्ष आलोचना ज़रूरी है और जनता का भरोसा जीतने के लिए अदालतों को जांच और सवालों के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए।
