The government has put on hold a draft law aimed at disqualifying convicted ministers from holding office. This decision comes as the focus shifts to the delimitation exercise for Jammu and Kashmir. The proposed bill sought to amend the Representation of the People Act, 1951, to prevent individuals with criminal convictions from serving in government.

सरकार ने दोषी मंत्रियों को पद से अयोग्य ठहराने वाले मसौदा कानून को फिलहाल रोक दिया है। यह फैसला जम्मू-कश्मीर के परिसीमन (delimitation) पर ध्यान केंद्रित होने के कारण लिया गया है। प्रस्तावित विधेयक का उद्देश्य जनप्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम, 1951 में संशोधन करना था, ताकि आपराधिक मामलों में दोषी पाए गए लोगों को सरकार में सेवा करने से रोका जा सके।
