A 75-year-old paddu vendor in Bengaluru has been defrauded of Rs 1.9 lakh and a mobile phone by a 35-year-old woman posing as a police officer. The accused, Siva Rani, befriended the vendor and promised to help recover his wife's missing gold chain. Over three months, she collected Rs 40,000 and on October 26, transferred Rs 1.6 lakh from his digital accounts before fleeing with his phone. The victim had saved this money for his own last rites.
