CJP Protest in Delhi: Over 1000 Detained Amidst Security Clampdown

Business Standard · politics

Over 1,000 people have been detained in Delhi as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) planned a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police denied permission for the demonstration, citing short notice and law and order concerns, and imposed restrictions on public transport. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke criticised the measures, comparing them to the Emergency and stating his readiness for arrest. The protest aims to scrap the Special Intensive Revision process, which CJP alleges removed over 13 crore names from electoral rolls.
