Kerala is preparing for the onset of the northeast monsoon following a 28% deficit in the southwest monsoon season. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects to announce the onset within 24 hours, as wind patterns have shifted. An orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts for Thursday, with yellow alerts for others, anticipating heavy rainfall.
