Times of India · india
The Chandigarh administration has amended its government accommodation allotment rules, allowing employees transferred from designated "hard areas" to other "soft areas" (excluding Chandigarh) to retain their government housing for six months. This provision, effective from their relief date from the hard-area posting, requires payment of the normal license fee. The amendment applies to transfers to regions like Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. It aims to provide a grace period for employees transitioning between postings.
