सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चीफ इलेक्शन कमिश्नर और इलेक्शन कमिश्नर्स को मिले कानूनी संरक्षण के मामले में केंद्र सरकार और चुनाव आयोग को नोटिस जारी किया है। यह कदम 'चीफ इलेक्शन कमिश्नर और अन्य इलेक्शन कमिश्नर्स (नियुक्ति, सेवा की शर्तें और पद की अवधि) अधिनियम, 2023' की धारा 16 को चुनौती देने वाली याचिकाओं के बाद उठाया गया है। कोर्ट ने लगातार ऐसी याचिकाएं दायर होने पर चिंता जताई और कहा कि इससे मुख्य मुद्दों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना मुश्किल हो रहा है।
