Kerala Govt to Ensure Shia, Sunni Representation on Waqf Board Within Two Weeks

The Kerala government has informed the High Court that it will complete the process of determining Shia and Sunni representation on the State Waqf Board within two weeks. Advocate General K. Jaju Babu stated that necessary steps are being taken to ensure adequate representation as per the UMEED Act, 2025. This follows petitions challenging the board's composition, including concerns about the exclusion of non-Muslims and specific Shia communities. The court is considering these petitions, which also raise issues regarding land uploads and appointment validity.

केरल सरकार ने हाई कोर्ट को बताया है कि वह राज्य वक्फ बोर्ड पर शिया और सुन्नी प्रतिनिधित्व तय करने की प्रक्रिया दो हफ़्ते में पूरी कर लेगी। महाधिवक्ता के. जजू बाबू ने कहा कि UMEED Act, 2025 के अनुसार पर्याप्त प्रतिनिधित्व सुनिश्चित करने के लिए ज़रूरी कदम उठाए जा रहे हैं। यह बोर्ड की संरचना को चुनौती देने वाली याचिकाओं के बाद आया है, जिसमें गैर-मुसलमानों और विशेष शिया समुदायों को बाहर रखने की चिंताएं शामिल हैं। अदालत इन याचिकाओं पर विचार कर रही है, जिनमें भूमि अपलोड और नियुक्ति की वैधता के मुद्दे भी उठाए गए हैं।
