Madras HC dismisses plea against Sengottaiyan's election

The Madras High Court has dismissed a plea challenging the election of revenue minister K A Sengottaiyan from the Gobichettipalayam constituency. The court rejected the election petition filed by AIADMK candidate V B Prabhu, stating there was insufficient material to conduct a trial. Prabhu had alleged improper filing of nomination papers and issues with the notary. Sengottaiyan won the election by a margin of 16,620 votes.

मद्रास हाई कोर्ट ने राजस्व मंत्री के. ए. सेंगोट्टईयन के गोबिचेट्टीपलायम सीट से चुनाव को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी है। कोर्ट ने AIADMK उम्मीदवार वी. बी. प्रभु की चुनाव याचिका को यह कहते हुए ठुकरा दिया कि सुनवाई के लिए पर्याप्त सबूत नहीं हैं। प्रभु ने नामांकन पत्रों की गलत फाइलिंग और नोटरी से जुड़ी समस्याएं बताई थीं। सेंगोट्टईयन ने 16,620 वोटों से जीत दर्ज की थी।
