Mumbai's Air Quality Dips to Moderate Category Amidst Low Winds

Hindustan Times · environment

Mumbai's air quality deteriorated on Saturday, with the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) rising to 122 from 99 the previous day. Low wind speeds and temperature inversion trapped pollutants near the surface, leading to unhealthy air at over half of the city's monitoring stations. PM10 was identified as the primary pollutant. While 15 stations recorded 'moderate' air quality, the rest were in the 'satisfactory' category. Experts suggest these seasonal variations are influenced by temperature changes and are likely to persist for a few days.
