Calcutta HC Grants Interim Bail to Congress Nominee for Nandigram Bypoll

The Calcutta High Court has granted interim bail to Congress candidate Milan Pradhan for the Nandigram bypoll. Pradhan, who was arrested after filing his nomination, is facing six cases linked to the 2007 anti-land acquisition movement. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh noted that Pradhan was a political activist and his arrest occurred long after the cases were registered. The court considered a holistic approach, allowing him an opportunity to contest the bypoll.

कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने नंदीग्राम उपचुनाव के लिए कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार मिलन प्रधान को अंतरिम जमानत दे दी है। नामांकन दाखिल करने के बाद गिरफ्तार हुए प्रधान पर 2007 के भूमि अधिग्रहण विरोधी आंदोलन से जुड़े छह मामले चल रहे हैं। जस्टिस तीर्थंकर घोष ने कहा कि प्रधान एक राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता थे और मामले दर्ज होने के काफी समय बाद उनकी गिरफ्तारी हुई थी। अदालत ने समग्र दृष्टिकोण अपनाते हुए उन्हें उपचुनाव लड़ने का अवसर दिया।
