Chandigarh Moves to Block France Auction of Heritage Furniture

Chandigarh authorities are taking action to prevent the auction of nine lots of heritage furniture in France. The UT department of cultural affairs has requested Chandigarh Police to register an FIR and initiate recovery proceedings against the unauthorized sale of the city's architectural legacy abroad. The furniture, including chairs, sofas, and tables, is attributed to Pierre Jeanneret, who worked on Chandigarh's planning. This move follows a similar successful intervention in June, where two armchairs were withdrawn from a Paris auction.
