Consumers face sustained high grocery bills as edible oil prices show no immediate signs of easing, unlike seasonal onions. Sunflower oil has risen 19.5%, palm oil 15.9%, and soybean oil 13.9% over the past year. Experts attribute this persistence to ongoing geopolitical conflicts in West Asia and global demand for palm oil in biodiesel production. India's reliance on imports makes domestic prices vulnerable to international market fluctuations and currency changes, impacting household budgets significantly.

खाने के तेल की कीमतों में फौरन नरमी के कोई आसार नहीं दिख रहे हैं, जिससे उपभोक्ताओं को किराने के सामान के लिए लगातार ज़्यादा पैसे चुकाने पड़ रहे हैं, प्याज के विपरीत। पिछले एक साल में सूरजमुखी तेल 19.5%, पाम तेल 15.9% और सोयाबीन तेल 13.9% महंगा हुआ है। जानकारों का कहना है कि पश्चिम एशिया में जारी भू-राजनीतिक संघर्ष और बायोडीजल उत्पादन में पाम तेल की वैश्विक मांग के कारण कीमतें लगातार बढ़ रही हैं। भारत का आयात पर निर्भर होना घरेलू कीमतों को अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजार के उतार-चढ़ाव और मुद्रा परिवर्तनों के प्रति संवेदनशील बनाता है, जिसका परिवारों के बजट पर काफी असर पड़ता है।
