Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has inspired Golu doll makers this Navarathri season, with at least two artisans creating dolls of the actor-turned-politician. One artisan crafted a six-inch clay doll depicting Vijay's signature slashing hand gesture. Another stall featured small Ganesha dolls styled after the Chief Minister, complete with party-coloured clothes and sunglasses, mirroring recent idols made for Pillayar Chathurthi. These dolls join traditional figures like Mahatma Gandhi and historical leaders like M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, reflecting contemporary cultural influences on the festival.
