Kollywood Demands 6 AM First Shows To Boost Revenue And Match Other States

Times of India · entertainment

Tamil film industry representatives met with the Information and Publicity Minister to present key demands, including permission for 6 AM first-day-first-show (FDFS) screenings. They argue that losing the early morning show impacts revenue and that audiences should experience films simultaneously with those in neighbouring states. The industry also requested theatres operate 18 hours daily, from 6 AM to 2 AM, potentially unlocking an additional 1,200 shows. Other demands included abolishing Virtual Print Fee and enforcing a strict four-week theatrical window before OTT releases.
