German pharmaceutical giant Bayer has secured a victory in a US court, with a Missouri jury unanimously siding with the company in a trial concerning claims that its Roundup weedkiller caused cancer. This marks the first trial outcome since a US Supreme Court ruling that limits complaints over the product. The ruling followed a case brought by three women who alleged non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnoses after using Roundup. Bayer's general counsel stated the verdict validates their belief that no evidence proves design defect, fraud, or negligence claims.
