Kerala Murder Convict Found Dead in Jail Cell; Recently Diagnosed With Cancer

A 51-year-old man serving a life sentence for a 2004 murder was found hanging in his cell at Poojapura Central Prison in Thiruvananthapuram. Identified as Sreenivasan, he was recently diagnosed with cancer and had reportedly been depressed. Prison staff discovered him in cell number 17 around 9:10 pm on Wednesday. He was taken to the medical college hospital where he was declared dead. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
