Delhi-NCR Invokes Stage III of GRAP As Air Quality Turns 'Very Poor'

Business Standard · environment

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR with immediate effect due to the 'very poor' air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital reached 382, with several monitoring stations recording 'severe' levels. The Supreme Court also raised concerns over vehicular emissions contributing significantly to the pollution crisis. The court questioned the effectiveness of current measures as the AQI approaches 400, highlighting heavy traffic as a major issue.
