Hindu Traditions Dictate Specific Times To Avoid Plucking Tulsi Leaves
Times of India · spirituality
Tulsi, or holy basil, holds significant spiritual and cultural importance in Hindu traditions, often worshipped for positivity and protection. While its leaves are used daily, Hindu customs advise against plucking them on specific days. These include Sundays, Ekadashi and Dwadashi (lunar days sacred to Lord Vishnu), Amavasya (new moon), Purnima (full moon), and days of solar transitions. Leaves should only be plucked between sunrise and sunset. If needed, leaves can be plucked in advance on an appropriate day and stored.
