The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued an advisory expressing concern over the spread of false, misleading, or manipulated information online. The ministry fears such content could disrupt public order, social peace, and incite violence. Companies are urged to identify and act swiftly on such illegal material based on official complaints.

भारत सरकार ने प्रमुख सोशल मीडिया कंपनियों को निर्देश दिया है कि वे चल रहे विरोध प्रदर्शनों से संबंधित अवैध सामग्री के बारे में कानून प्रवर्तन एजेंसियों और अधिकृत निकायों से प्राप्त शिकायतों पर तुरंत कार्रवाई करें। इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय ने ऑनलाइन झूठी, भ्रामक या हेरफेर की गई जानकारी के प्रसार पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए एक सलाह जारी की है। मंत्रालय को डर है कि ऐसी सामग्री से सार्वजनिक व्यवस्था और सामाजिक शांति भंग हो सकती है और हिंसा भड़क सकती है। कंपनियों से आग्रह किया गया है कि वे आधिकारिक शिकायतों के आधार पर ऐसी अवैध सामग्री की पहचान करें और उस पर तुरंत कार्रवाई करें।
