High Fees Push NEET Cleared Students Away From Medical Seats

Closing ranks for MBBS admissions in Tamil Nadu's deemed medical universities have dropped significantly, with some reaching the 11 lakh range. This indicates that students clearing NEET are failing to meet the affordability test due to steep fee hikes by deemed universities. Annual tuition fees have risen by up to ₹5 lakh, pushing the total course cost to nearly ₹1.5 crore. Consequently, many students who cannot afford these fees either opt for other courses or prepare to repeat NEET, leaving seats for those with lower scores but higher financial capacity.
