Industrialist R. Veeramani, founder of GEM Group, was arrested on August 29, 2026, under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting minor girls. His accomplices, Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan, were also arrested and later detained under the Goondas Act. A complaint was filed after a volunteer received a pen drive with alleged video evidence.
