The Kerala Legislative Assembly witnessed a heated exchange between the Opposition LDF and the ruling UDF over the state of the health sector. The LDF moved an adjournment motion, citing a critical shortage of medicines in government hospitals, arbitrary staff retrenchments, and medical negligence cases. Opposition MLA K.V. Sumesh stated the health sector was "on a ventilator" since the UDF came to power. Health Minister K. Muraleedharan dismissed the allegations, calling the situation "under control" and suggesting the Opposition was motivated by a loss of power.
