MNM founder Kamal Haasan has strongly condemned the alleged procurement of substandard and fake books, calling it a "grave insult and disgrace to the Tamil language." He warned that such fraudulent material would cause immense long-term harm to academic integrity and the dignity of Tamil. Haasan urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately withdraw and destroy these fake books from all libraries. He also called for the sealing of publishing houses involved in this fraud, crediting writer Perumal Murugan for exposing the scam.
