Ranger's Murder Highlights Forest Staff Risks

The murder of forest ranger Pratap Singh Chundawat, allegedly by the mining mafia, has exposed the dangers faced by Rajasthan's forest staff. Chundawat was reportedly run over by a dumper truck while stopping illegal mining. Over 200 attacks on forest staff have been reported in five years, with three personnel dying in two years. Forest unions are demanding firearms and better vehicles for frontline staff, who often confront heavy machinery on motorcycles.

राजस्थान में जंगल के रेंजर प्रताप सिंह चुंडावत की हत्या ने वन कर्मचारियों के सामने आने वाले खतरों को उजागर कर दिया है। आरोप है कि खनन माफिया ने उन्हें डम्पर ट्रक से कुचलकर मार डाला, जब वे अवैध खनन रोक रहे थे। पिछले पांच सालों में वन कर्मचारियों पर 200 से ज़्यादा हमले हुए हैं, और दो सालों में तीन कर्मचारियों की जान गई है।
