Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata has strongly opposed the public listing of Tata Sons, stating it would destroy the company's unique character and operating model. He believes a public listing would impair the rights of Tata Trusts as a major shareholder. Tata Sons recently re-appointed N Chandrasekaran as executive chairman for another five years. Noel Tata emphasized that the Tata Model, premised on trust and supporting public purpose, needs to be preserved.
