Gujarat May Introduce Female Tiger To Boost Existing Population
Hindustan Times · environment
Gujarat plans to introduce a female tiger to the Ratanmahal forest to facilitate breeding and establish a resident population. A wildlife expert committee has deemed the contiguous forest tract across Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh suitable for 10 to 12 tigers. The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) will decide the source of the female tiger, potentially from Madhya Pradesh. The committee's report, expected by mid-October, will guide further steps for developing the area as a tiger habitat, assessing prey base and protection measures.
