Chandigarh Waste Data Inconsistencies Exposed in Court Filings

Conflicting affidavits submitted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court reveal significant discrepancies in Chandigarh's waste generation and processing data. While the municipal corporation claimed legacy waste at Dadumajra was fully bio-mined in October, past filings show inconsistent figures regarding daily waste production and processing capacities. The latest affidavit omits total generation figures and fails to reconcile new data with previous estimates, leaving a substantial portion of daily garbage unaccounted for. Discrepancies also surround the disposal of post-processing residue and the number of dumping sites.

पंजाब और हरियाणा हाई कोर्ट में जमा किए गए हलफनामों में चंडीगढ़ के कचरा उत्पादन और प्रसंस्करण के आंकड़ों में बड़े अंतर का खुलासा हुआ है। नगर निगम ने जहां अक्टूबर में डडूमाजरा में पड़े पुराने कचरे के पूरी तरह बायो-माइनिंग का दावा किया था, वहीं पिछली फाइलों में रोज के कचरा उत्पादन और प्रसंस्करण क्षमता को लेकर अलग-अलग आंकड़े दिखाए गए हैं। नए हलफनामे में कुल उत्पादन के आंकड़े नहीं दिए गए हैं और नए आंकड़ों को पिछले अनुमानों से मेल नहीं खाया गया है, जिससे रोज के कचरे का एक बड़ा हिस्सा हिसाब से बाहर है। प्रसंस्करण के बाद बचे अवशेषों के निपटान और डंपिंग साइटों की संख्या को लेकर भी विसंगतियां हैं।
