Calcutta HC Grants Interim Bail to Congress Candidate

The Calcutta High Court granted interim bail to Milan Pradhan, the Congress candidate for the Nandigram Assembly bypolls. Pradhan was arrested on September 18 in connection with an FIR filed 19 years ago, stemming from the 2007 Nandigram agitation. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh noted his arrest occurred after nomination filing and that the CBI had investigated the cases. The court granted bail until October 20, after which Pradhan must surrender. The Nandigram bypoll is scheduled for October 6.
