Western countries, despite imposing sanctions on Russian oil, have significantly increased their purchase of refined fuel products from India. A report by CREA indicates that India and two other nations boosted their exports of oil products made from Russian crude to these Western countries by 43% in September. This surge in exports, valued at approximately 1 billion Euros, highlights a loophole in the sanctions regime. While the EU banned imports of refined oil products from Russian crude, countries processing it were not explicitly restricted, leading to this indirect trade.
