This comes after an elephant named Somanna, carrying the howdah, panicked and caused chaos during a procession on October 21. The Minister emphasized relying on scientific thinking and the Forest Department's findings for the decision. He noted that animal behaviour is unpredictable, even after training and rehearsals. The government will gather reports from all sources and take action against those found responsible for the incident.

कर्नाटक के स्कूल शिक्षा मंत्री मधु बंगारप्पा ने कहा कि सरकार दशहरा जैसे त्योहारों में हाथियों के इस्तेमाल की वैज्ञानिक समीक्षा करेगी। यह 21 अक्टूबर को एक जुलूस के दौरान हाउडा ले जा रहे सोमन्ना नाम के हाथी के घबरा जाने और अफरा-तफरी मचाने के बाद हुआ। मंत्री ने फैसले के लिए वैज्ञानिक सोच और वन विभाग के निष्कर्षों पर भरोसा करने पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रशिक्षण और पूर्वाभ्यास के बाद भी जानवरों का व्यवहार अप्रत्याशित होता है। सरकार सभी स्रोतों से रिपोर्ट एकत्र करेगी और घटना के लिए जिम्मेदार पाए जाने वालों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई करेगी।
