One person has died and 102 individuals have been rescued from the Indonesian passenger ferry Virgo Transport 8, which went missing in the Java Sea. Contact was lost with the vessel, carrying 243 people, as it encountered bad weather while en route from Surabaya to Banjarmasin. A joint search and rescue operation involving multiple agencies was launched. Ships and a helicopter were deployed to the scene to locate any remaining passengers.
